A glimpse into harvesting and creating the abaca rope

We thought you might be interested in what makes your bag so unique. Our bags are made from the versatile and durable Abaca fiber, which is native to the Philippines and a relative of the banana plant. The process begins with cutting Abaca stalks into strips and removing the pulp inside. The pulp is then separated into strands and hung to dry and then naturally dyed to its beautiful golden color. Once dyed, the Abaca fiber is twisted/braided, by hand, into the rope used to construct your beautiful, handwoven handbag.

This short video gives you a glimpse into harvesting and creating the abaca rope.
